Sick Parade – Malcolm Thomas “Dinga” Bell

Malcolm has had some health issues with Vascular Dementia and is now residing at Cooinda House, George Street, Kippa Ring. His partner of almost 30 years has given permission to pass on news of his condition.

Malcolm was a national serviceman who was posted to the RAA Band, Singleton in 1970 as a drummer and tuba player. Bands he also served in include Northern Command Band, 1RAR Band, 1MD Band, 2MD Band, NQAB, 5MD Band, DFSM and AAB-Melbourne as OC/MD.

After leaving the Army in 1994 Malcolm was selling real estate but a phone call to Mike Tyler, Coordinator of Qld Instrumental Music led to Malcolm accepting the position IMT at Wavell Hights High school. Malcolm held this position for many years whilst directing Qld Wind and Brass. He also performed in The Blues Brothers Revival Band playing bass and drums.
