Norman ‘Smokie’ Dawson, 2 December 1957 to 16 September 2026, aged 68.
Smokie’s wife, Jeannie, has advised of his passing peacefully at home. Initially a RAN band boy, Smokie was a long time AABC percussionist who served in 1 RTB Band, 1 RAR Band, AAB-Sydney and RMC Band. Smokie loved the military, as much as he did riding motorbikes and adoring his soulmate ‘Queen’ Jeannie.
As per his wishes Smokie will have a private cremation, with a small family and close friends gathering to be organised in a couple of months, when Jeannie, who has just suffered a significant mobility scooter accident, recovers enough to leave hospital rehab.
Farewell old mate. You served well and gave your all.
